Location: Downers Grove, Illinois Pay Rate: $23.00/hour Shift: 2nd Shift (Generally starts as early as 2:45 PM until finish. Overtime and weekend work as needed. Start times and hours may vary based on production schedules, holidays, and staffing needs.) Requirement: Strong attendance and punctuality are essential. Employees must remain in position for a minimum of one year and successfully complete a 90-day evaluation period. HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE As an Equipment Cleaner, you will play a critical role in maintaining food safety, equipment reliability, and operational excellence. By ensuring production equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and operating efficiently, you will help deliver high-quality products while supporting a safe, compliant, and productive manufacturing environment. WHAT YOU WILL DO - Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble production equipment according to established sanitation procedures and standards.
- Identify and report equipment abnormalities, performance concerns, and sanitation issues.
- Analyze equipment performance and create detailed SAP work orders describing equipment problems and their impact on production.
- Complete and close SAP work orders daily.
- Maintain assigned production and sanitation areas in accordance with established sanitation standards.
- Work in a steam room and other hot, wet, and industrial manufacturing environments.
- Operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts and floor scrubbers, while maintaining required certifications and licensing.
- Move product scrap containers throughout the facility, including pushing and pulling loads up to 800 pounds on wheels.
- Perform tasks at elevated heights using ladders and aerial lifts when required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and develop action plans to achieve departmental objectives.
- Communicate effectively with incoming and outgoing shifts regarding unfinished work, special requests, equipment conditions, and operational priorities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational and equipment-related issues independently or in partnership with leadership.
- Maintain work areas in accordance with 5S standards for organization, cleanliness, and housekeeping.
- Follow and support all SQF, HACCP, CTS, SOP, food safety, quality, safety, and hygiene requirements.
- Attend required safety meetings and comply with all plant safety regulations and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure equipment readiness, product quality, workplace safety, and operational efficiency across the facility. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
(MUST HAVE) - High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of related industrial, sanitation, manufacturing, maintenance, or equipment cleaning experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to disassemble and reassemble production equipment according to established procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification and successfully complete licensing requirements.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance procedures, and written work instructions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to food safety, quality, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, noisy, and fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push or pull wheeled loads up to 800 pounds.
- Ability to climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work at heights using ladders or lifts.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to support operations.
- Ability to successfully complete the Powered Industrial Equipment physical requirements.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE
(NICE TO HAVE) - Previous food manufacturing or food processing experience.
- Experience working in a SQF, HACCP, GMP, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience using SAP or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Prior forklift and powered industrial equipment operating experience.
- Knowledge of sanitation best practices and industrial cleaning processes.
- Experience working with 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience troubleshooting production equipment and identifying root causes of performance issues.
Additional Position Requirements - Successful completion of a 90-day evaluation period.
- Ability to remain in the position for a minimum of one year due to training requirements.
- Approved vacation schedules may be subject to change when bidding into a new area.
- Position requires flexibility to support changing operational needs and high-pressure situations while maintaining a team-oriented approach.
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
